Cave diving in Greece
Greece's documented cave dives in the sources consulted centre on large karst resurgences such as Maaras (Aggitis Cave) in the Drama region, explored by Franco-Greek expeditions since 1978. Its sumps lie far inside the cave and have been dived only by expedition teams.
How access works
At Maaras, exploration has required authorisation in a process involving archaeological and university interests and the Ministry of Culture, while part of the cave is run as a show cave. No general cave-diving permit system was found in the sources consulted.
