Terms of Use

Effective: September 2026

1. What this site is

The Scuba Atlas ("the Site") is an informational reference publication about scuba diving: destinations, dive sites, marine life, wrecks, equipment, training and trip planning. The Site publishes research and reference information only. It does not provide dive instruction, dive briefings, guiding services, medical advice, legal advice, or investment advice, and nothing on the Site constitutes any of those. The Site sells nothing, books nothing, and operates no dive services.

2. Assumption of risk

Scuba diving, freediving and snorkeling are activities with inherent risk of serious injury or death. Information on this Site — depths, conditions, seasons, hazard notes, site descriptions, facility listings — is general reference material that can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong, and conditions at any real site change hour to hour. You agree that any decision to dive, where to dive, and how to dive is yours alone, made with a certified professional and current local information, within the limits of your own training, experience and health. You agree never to rely on this Site as a substitute for training, professional supervision, local briefings, weather and conditions checks, or medical clearance.

3. Emergencies

The Site is not an emergency resource. Facility listings (including hyperbaric chambers) are planning reference only and carry no assurance of current operation or availability. In any dive emergency contact local emergency services and the appropriate diving emergency network (such as DAN) immediately.

4. No advice; no professional relationship

Nothing on the Site is intended to be, nor does it constitute, advice of any kind — professional, medical, safety, legal, financial or investment. No instructor-student, physician-patient, adviser-client or similar relationship is created by your use of the Site. For the avoidance of doubt: the Site is a publisher of general information within the meaning of applicable publisher exclusions, including, to the extent any financial information ever appears here, the publisher's exclusion under Section 202(a)(11) of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940; the Site is not a registered investment adviser and does not give personalized advice of any kind.

5. Accuracy, sources and AI assistance

Facts are compiled from the sources cited on the Site's pages and carry confidence labels. Portions of the Site's content and data compilation are produced with AI-assisted research. Figures are indicative, may be incomplete, delayed or revised, and must be verified against primary sources and local professionals before you act on them. Fields shown as "not yet verified" mean exactly that. Imagery on the Site is AI-generated illustration, labeled as such, and does not document real scenes.

6. Limitation of liability

All viewers agree that under no circumstances will The Scuba Atlas, its operators, partners, officers, employees, affiliates, or agents be held liable for any loss, injury or damage — including personal injury, death, property damage, or economic loss — caused by reliance on information obtained on this Site, by errors or omissions in it, or by your diving or travel decisions. Where a jurisdiction does not permit a particular limitation, that limitation applies to the maximum extent permitted.

7. Consent by use

By visiting, using, or viewing this Site you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

8. Intellectual property and fair use

The Site's original text, structure and compilation are © 2026 The Scuba Atlas. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link. News headlines and summaries shown on the Site belong to their publishers and always link to the original. Third-party videos remain their creators' property and are linked or embedded from their own platforms. Operator, park and agency names appear factually and imply no endorsement in either direction.

9. Operator and business listings

Business profiles are unclaimed factual listings compiled from public information unless marked otherwise. Businesses may request corrections, updates or removal via the contact page. Listing implies no endorsement, and no business has paid for inclusion. If affiliate relationships are ever introduced, they will be disclosed on the pages where they appear.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to scrape the Site abusively, misrepresent its content as your own, use it to train systems that misattribute its content, or use the free API beyond reasonable personal and research volumes. We may throttle or block abusive access.

11. Changes

These terms may be updated as the Site evolves; the effective date above changes when they do. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
