Dragon's Breath Cave
The only documented entrance to Dragon's Breath Cave: a crevice and squeeze on private farmland leading to rope descents and a huge underground lake. Expedition access only.
A surface crevice on Harasib farm leads into a passage with a squeeze of about 60 by 40 cm and then rope descents to the lake shore, roughly 50-60 m below ground. Expedition teams have needed several days to carry 1.5-1.8 tonnes of equipment down.
From the lake surface divers descend a near-vertical wall to about 55 m, then follow a passage sloping down into the large tunnel mapped by the 2019 SUNFISH survey. The 2024 expedition reached about 157-160 m.
L'ambiente
Very clear, warm water (about 25 C and roughly 100 m visibility reported in 2024) in a large, dark lake chamber; the air in the cave is humid.
