Advanced deep cave site

Advanced deep cave site: FWC stakeholder recommendation (2017) [4] (Recommendation from the 2017 FWC meeting as reported by X-Ray Mag; not a formal FWC category.). These categories are the named scheme's own; they describe the training a site calls for.

A pond in the Chassahowitzka WMA that is the only entrance to the Eagle's Nest deep cave; FWC scuba registration and a WMA entry permit are required.

The entrance is an unassuming pond reached by road through the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. FWC provides a parking area with vault toilets at the site. Beneath the pond, a debris cone slopes down into large upstream and downstream tunnels at depths that require advanced training and deep-diving experience.

FWC requires every scuba diver to have a Chassahowitzka WMA SCUBA Diving Registration on file before diving, and press reports from 2018 describe a minimum age of 18. Swimmers and freedivers are not covered by the registration rule, according to the same reports. The WMA is also used for hunting, so visitors are encouraged to wear fluorescent orange on scheduled hunt days.
