Guided flooded section (max 21 m) / technical overhead site: operator zone [1] (The operator separates guided dives in an open flooded area from technical overhead diving for cave- or mine-trained divers.). These categories are the named scheme's own; they describe the training a site calls for.

The diving base of the Tuna-Hästberg visitor mine, about 80 m underground, serving both guided dives in an open flooded area (to about 21 m) and technical overhead dives on more than 7 km of permanent line.

Divers walk about 80 m down through the old mine to water level, while equipment is sent down by lift or carried on the former mine railway and then about 300 m to the dive site. The technical site has a warm room, changing area, dive platform and compressor with gas bank.

Guided dives in the flooded open section are capped at about 21 m and about an hour, and groups of 1 to 16 divers can be booked. Technical overhead divers use the permanent guideline network deeper in the mine.

The environment

Cold (about 4-5 °C), very clear mine water in tunnels and flooded chambers of a former iron mine.

Conditions

Stable conditions year-round; operator states visibility at the technical site is always over 30 m.

Typical ranges from published sources, not current conditions.

Facilities

Lift or mine railway for equipment, heated room, changing area, dive platform, compressor and gas bank (air, nitrox, trimix, argon at the technical site); no rental except cylinders in some cases.
