Casa Cenote is the friendly one — an open, sky-lit lagoon threading through mangroves where a huge cave system vents to the sea. The dive meanders at swimming-pool depth past root tangles hung with tannin light, and the halocline stripes your view with shimmer wherever fresh and salt water trade places. Juvenile tarpon flash under the mangrove shade, and the resident small crocodile, locally famous and generally indifferent, sometimes suns along the far edge. It suits first-time cenote divers, snorkelers, and anyone rebuilding confidence, while the seawater connection gives it more fish than any inland pool.
Der Moment, für den du kommst: Mangrove-lined channel, shimmering halocline, juvenile tarpon, easy open-water profile.
Topografie: Sandy, root-lined channel through mangrove islands, mixing fresh and salt water over the outflow of a major cave system.
Strömung: A gentle flow moves between cave system and ocean with the tide.
Einstieg: Walk-in entry from the beach road at Tankah; the cenote winds like a river between mangroves a stone's throw from the sea.
Was du wissen solltest, bevor du ins Wasser gehst
Gefahren: Occasional boat and paddleboard traffic on the surface; mild disorientation at the halocline.
Genehmigungen & Regeln: Entrance fee collected at the road; guides required for diving.
Naturschutz: Mangroves are nursery habitat; keep fins off roots and sand. Give the crocodile distance and never feed it.
