Cave diving in Portugal
The best-documented Portuguese cave dive in the sources consulted is the Olhos de Água do Alviela, a major karst spring in central Portugal explored by divers in 1987-1988 and again by an FFESSM expedition with Portuguese cavers, which reached 125 m depth.
How access works
For the Alviela expedition, Portuguese cavers obtained the necessary local authorisations. No general cave-diving access framework was found in the sources consulted.
