Cenote Pet Cemetery
A shallow, heavily decorated cenote on the Dos Ojos access road in Sistema Sac Actun, named for the animal skeletons found inside, including fossil camel remains reported by operators.
Pet Cemetery lies farther along the same access road as Dos Ojos and is part of Sistema Sac Actun; QRSS recorded the 2012 dry connection between Dos Ojos and Sac Actun at Pet Cemetery. Pro Dive International describes much of the cenote as only about 3 m deep, with a wide daylight zone, very clear water and dense white stalactites, stalagmites and columns. The name refers to the animal skeletons found in it, and the operator mentions fossil remains of an extinct camel.
Pet Cemetery is not on CREER's list of rated cenotes for guided single-tank cavern tours, and no published access rules were found. Fossils and formations are protected and fragile.
