The entrance pool of Font del Truffe, beside a ford near Lacave, where a squeeze between a boulder and the roof leads to a low passage and the first of a long chain of sumps.

The source lies beside a ford at the end of a 3 km track from the D247 near Lacave. The passage starts at the bottom of a dark pool, between the roof and a large boulder that partly blocks the opening, then continues through a tiny chamber and a very low section before reaching the main gallery.

Sump 1 runs about 160 m to a maximum depth of 13 m. Near its end a side passage on the left surfaces in a clay gallery. Visibility is usually described as excellent.

The environment

A low, restricted entrance leading to clear, fairly shallow sump passage in sculpted rock.

Conditions

Visibility usually excellent; the connection between sumps 1 and 2 depends on water level.

Typical ranges from published sources, not current conditions.

For orientation, not navigation. Hollow dots are approximate.
