The larger of the two Gouls de Tourne, a pool leading to a restriction at 12 m and a sequence of shafts that divers have followed to 185 m depth about 575 m from the entrance.

The Goul du Pont lies about 50 m from the Goul de la Tannerie and shares its catchment. Its pool slides down a cobble slope to a narrowing at 12 m; a sub-horizontal gallery reaches the top of the first shaft about 75 m in, which drops vertically to 33 m and then in steps to 60 m. Further pits lead to 110 m and 120 m, where a sinuous deep gallery starts.

The entrance was blocked by cobbles for more than 15 years after 1985. In May 2002 the Fils d'Ariane team removed the blockage, re-lined, filmed and surveyed the cave. Jérôme Meynié reached 178 m in 2003 and 180 m in 2006, and Xavier Méniscus reached 185 m in April 2006.

The environment

A steep, shaft-dominated deep cave with modest passage sections at depth.
