Mina inundada
Kőbánya Mine (flooded cellars)
Cave-certified areas / one spot open to non-cave divers: operator zone [1] (The operator says most underwater areas require cave certification, while one spot is open to other divers who meet its experience rules.). Estas categorías pertenecen al esquema indicado; describen la formación que requiere cada sitio.
A labyrinth of old limestone quarry tunnels and cellars in eastern Budapest, parts of which are flooded. Visits are organised on request by the Molnár János Cave dive centre; most underwater areas require cave certification.
Kőbánya (literally 'stone quarry') is a district of Budapest built over extensive underground limestone workings. According to the Molnár János Cave dive centre, the passages were later used as wine cellars, belonged to the Dreher brewery in the 20th century and hid an aircraft-engine factory during the Second World War.
Some rooms are flooded and are dived as an overhead environment. The operator stresses that these are flooded rooms and cellars reached by stairs rather than rail-served mine tunnels, and that it organises regular visits with details available on request.
El entorno
Cold, clear water in flooded rooms and cellars cut in limestone. No temperature or depth figures are published by the operator.
