QRSS list entry reported by Neto/Ormeroid, 07/2014; QRSS Cozumel page last updated 2024-12-09 gives the same figure. QRSS long list.

The longest underwater cave QRSS lists on Isla Cozumel (11,555 m, 2014), draining fresh water to the sea through coastal lagoons; some entrances lie in Chankanaab Park and need a park permit and a Full Cave card.

Cueva Quebrada is a coastal underwater cave on Isla Cozumel that discharges fresh water to the Caribbean through caletas and lagoons along the shore. In 2014 QRSS recorded its connection with Sistema Dos Coronas, whose entrances lie off the coast, and the combined cave appears on the QRSS list at 11,555 m with 13 cenotes and a maximum depth of about 9 m.

Access is split. According to QRSS, diving from certain entrances requires a permit from the Chankanaab Park office, applicants need a Full Cave certification card, and exploration from park entrances may be limited to scientific goals. Other entrances are on private land, where visitors must follow the landowners' rules.

QRSS also documents a handful of inland Cozumel caves, several of which are on private land or closed because of archaeological material; they are not described here.
