Stone Aerospace (SUNFISH autonomous vehicle)

End of the chamber mapped by the SUNFISH vehicle in 2019 (AiThority); Discover gives 'more than 800 feet'. Divers have reached 179 m.

A deep pit on the same private farm as Dragon's Breath that drops to a flooded shaft. A 2019 robotic survey followed it to about 265 m, and divers have reached 179 m.

Harasib Cave lies on the same private farm as Dragon's Breath Cave in northern Namibia. Its entrance is a broad pit, about 40 m across; the 2019 survey team had to lower its equipment roughly 100-112 m by winch to reach the water.

Below the surface a water-filled shaft drops into a very large chamber. The SUNFISH autonomous vehicle went down about 150 m into the shaft and mapped a chamber more than 80 m wide and 100 m high, which ended at about 265 m depth. That makes Harasib deeper than the Dragon's Breath lake, which may explain the 264-265 m figure sometimes attached to Dragon's Breath in popular articles.

A diving team that has worked in Namibia since 2017 reports reaching 179 m in the Harasib system. Like its neighbour, the cave is on private land and is visited only by arranged expeditions.

Survey and exploration history

2019The SUNFISH autonomous vehicle mapped the flooded shaft and chamber to about 265 m. [3] [4]
2025An expedition report states that a team diving in Namibia since 2017 had reached 179 m in the system. [1]
