Survey and exploration
Filipino Cave Divers, Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving

Total mapped distance of 258.42 m from the FCD survey of May 2016.

A small brackish-water cave on Mactan Island, Cebu, mapped by the Filipino Cave Divers to 258 m in 2016. Locals use the entrance pool for bathing, close to a busy highway.

The Pawod Underwater Cave System lies in Barangay Agus, Maribago, on Mactan Island off Cebu. Its entrance pool is used by local residents for bathing and recreation, and it sits about 15 m from the island's circumferential highway with no barrier against road run-off.

The Filipino Cave Divers surveyed the cave in May 2016 with support from the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving, mapping about 258 m of passage. Beyond roughly the first 39 m the passages become narrow with low ceilings. The water is brackish, and the survey team suggests it may connect to the nearby sea through the porous limestone.

Water, flow and flooding

Brackish water with a possible connection to the sea; a 2016 water-quality assessment found heavy metals at negligible levels.
