Дайвинг в Cyprus
Cyprus earns its place on the dive map with a single extraordinary wreck. The MS Zenobia, a Swedish ferry that capsized and sank on her maiden voyage in 1980, lies on her port side off Larnaca in about 42 meters of Mediterranean blue, her cargo of articulated trucks still chained to the decks. She is routinely ranked among the best wrecks on earth: big enough for days of exploration, shallow enough at the top for advanced recreational divers, and served by a mature local industry five minutes from the harbor. Around her, Cyprus offers warm, calm, exceptionally clear Mediterranean diving from June into November: rocky reefs, caverns, a growing set of artificial reefs, and easy shore sites. It is not a biodiversity destination; it is a wreck destination with 300 days of sunshine.
Larnaca and the Zenobia form the registry destination and the gravitational center: the ferry sits a short boat ride from Larnaca marina, and most visiting divers structure whole trips around repeat dives on her. Beyond Larnaca, operators around the island dive sea caves near Cape Greco, wrecks and reefs off Ayia Napa and Protaras, and the west-coast sites out of Paphos.
Фирменные впечатления: Multiple dives working along the Zenobia's 172-meter hull, from upper-deck swim-bys to trained penetration of vehicle decks; trucks hanging in their chains; groupers and barracuda that have colonized the wreck; cavern light-beams at Cape Greco; warm, tideless late-season water.
Сезоны: The Mediterranean season runs roughly May through November, with the warmest water and best settled conditions from June to October; winter diving is possible on calm days but cool, with fewer boats running. Visibility is dependable across the season.

Практическая документация
Как добраться: Larnaca International (LCA) sits practically beside the dive harbor, with direct flights from much of Europe and the Middle East; Paphos (PFO) serves the west. Distances are short and rental cars simple, and the wreck itself is under 30 minutes from the dock.
Въезд и визы: Cyprus is an EU member; EU citizens enter freely and many other nationalities, including UK and US travelers, typically get visa-free short stays. Verify current requirements, and note that entry rules via the north are a separate legal question worth checking.
Сколько стоит дайвинг: A two-dive Zenobia boat trip typically costs around EUR 90-130, with technical and penetration options priced above that; shore diving and training are good value by European standards.
Язык: Greek is the official language in the Republic, with Turkish in the north; English is spoken almost universally in tourism and diving.
Чаевые: Tipping around 10 percent is appreciated but not obligatory; some restaurants include service. Dive crews welcome a small end-of-trip tip.
Безопасность в путешествии: Cyprus is a safe, easy destination with low crime; summer heat and sun exposure are the everyday hazards. The island remains divided, with the north under a separate administration, but this rarely touches a dive trip to Larnaca. The Zenobia deserves respect: depth, overheads, and monofilament in places make guided profiles and honest certification limits the rule; eleven people died when she sank... treat her story soberly.
Покрытие декомпрессионного лечения: Recompression facilities operate on the island, with the Larnaca area historically the hub serving Zenobia divers. Availability changes; route any incident through 112 EMS and DAN for current chamber coordination.
