Saltstraumen's tide is a geographic event — a fjord system breathing through a strait a few hundred meters wide — and everything below the surface is built by that flow. Dead man's fingers and dahlia anemones tile the walls solid, coalfish school in silver rivers, big cod shoulder through the shallows, and the strait's celebrated wolffish peer from dens with prizefighter faces. Divers enter on the dying current, work the walls through slack, and exit as the flow reawakens; in the clear, dark water of winter the density of life reads like a cold-water Palau. Discipline and local knowledge are not optional here.
その瞬間のために: World-class current-fed walls, wolffish encounters, winter visibility in an Arctic strait
地形: A narrow rock strait whose walls and boulder slopes are plastered with filter-feeding life
流れ(カレント): Among the strongest tidal currents in the world — the strait empties and refills a large fjord system four times a day. Diving happens only in the slack windows.
エントリー: Shore and boat entries near the famous bridge outside Bodo, timed precisely to the brief slack between tides; local guides run the schedule to the minute.
エントリー前に知っておこう
危険生物・リスク: The current is the hazard: missed windows or poor positioning can sweep divers into the main flow. Cold, depth and boat traffic add margins to respect.
保全: A renowned sport-fishing and diving area; take nothing and leave dens undisturbed.
