Thunderdome
Depth is the range from the top of the site to its usual maximum; "recommended cert" is the mainstream-agency level operators usually ask for, not a legal rule. Currents and visibility change daily — treat everything here as planning ranges.
Thunderdome is the odd one out in Turks and Caicos diving: the ruins of a steel geodesic dome sunk off Providenciales in the 1990s as the set of a French television game show, in which contestants dove for tokens inside it. Storms have since folded the framework into a tangle of hoops and struts, and the fish have taken over completely, with sergeant majors, snappers, and swirling silversides treating the lattice as a citadel. Shallow, calm, and strange, it works equally well as a second dive, a snorkel stop, or a long, easy photography session in good light.
The moment you come for: Game-show ruin turned fish haven, shallow bright conditions
Topography: Collapsed steel dome framework on shallow sand
Know before you splash
Hazards: Corroding metal framework; do not push through tight gaps in the collapsed structure.
Who you'll meet
Great Barracuda
Porcupinefish
Southern Stingray
