SMS Brummer

Brummer was built fast and low to sow mines in enemy waters, and with her sister Bremse she cut up a Scandinavian convoy in 1917 — a raider's history that gives her wreck a distinct character among the fleet. She lies on her starboard side in 36 m, her fine bow and forward gun still striking, while the bridge and midships sag further with each passing winter; divers who knew her decades ago measure Scapa's slow surrender to gravity by this hull. Conger eels and lobsters occupy the collapsing compartments, and the mine deck that defined her purpose can still be traced aft.
