Pool and cavern zone (separate line): NGDF guidance [1] (NGDF says divers without cave training may dive the pool or the cavern zone with an experienced cave diver; the cavern zone has its own line.). These categories are the named scheme's own; they describe the training a site calls for.

The main diving entrance to Pluragrotta: a pool where the underground Plura river reappears near the farm Jordbru, about 200 m from the Plura Valley dive centre. A lined cavern zone leads into very cold, clear cave passage.

The Plura river resurges in a pool near the farm Jordbru in Plurdalen. A resurgence is a spring where an underground river returns to the surface; divers swim against the outflow into the cave. The pool and the first part of the cave form a cavern zone with its own guideline (a fixed line divers follow so they can find the way out).

An air chamber, called the Chapel by the local dive centre, lies about 450 m inside, and most of the route to it can be seen within roughly 30 m depth, according to NGDF. Deeper side passages and the deep run towards Steinugleflåget are reserved for experienced technical cave divers.

The Plura Valley dive centre sits about 200 m from the entrance with accommodation, a shop and gas fills.

The environment

Cold river water from about 1.5 °C in winter to 7 °C in late autumn, usually very clear, in river passages with jumps (side lines) to side passages. Visibility can drop to a few metres during May snowmelt.

Conditions

Seasonal snowmelt in May reduces visibility to 2-3 m; late winter and early spring bring the clearest water (dive centre figures).

Typical ranges from published sources, not current conditions.

Facilities

Dive centre about 200 m from the entrance with accommodation (20 beds), shop, lounge, sauna and gas fills; guided packages include air, oxygen and nitrox, with helium charged separately.
