Bari Reef

Bari Reef looks unremarkable from the surface, a resort house reef with a sandy walk-in, which makes its statistics more startling: volunteer fish-count surveys have recorded more species here than at virtually any other site in the tropical western Atlantic. The gentle slope concentrates everything, from juvenile drums flickering under ledges to seahorses on the sponge patches, frogfish on the debris, and tarpon that materialize beside night divers like patrol cars. It is the island's favorite dawn, dusk, and night dive, and the kind of site that rewards the fiftieth visit as generously as the first.
