South of uninhabited Ginger Island, the seabed grows a garden Lewis Carroll would recognize: star and brain corals ballooned into giant toadstools by centuries of growth, their undercut stems shading fairy basslets and blackcap gobies. The slope descends in tiers from ten meters to nearly thirty, sand avenues winding between the heads, with garden eels retracting ahead of each diver and eagle rays gliding the outer lanes. It is the BVI's finest pure coral dive, calm and painterly, and its position on the archipelago's quieter southern side keeps the moorings mercifully uncrowded.
