El Frio is the local big-fish wreck, the trip guides save for divers who ask what else the area hides. The old freezer ship lies broken-backed on the sand at 30 m, far enough offshore that the water runs cooler and greener than the island reefs — bring an extra layer of neoprene and expectations of atmosphere over clarity. The reward is scale: thick black groupers in the holds, barracuda stacked over the superstructure, nurse sharks in the shadowed corners, and eagle rays crossing the sand in winter. Depth and distance keep the crowds thin.

Topografie: A refrigerated cargo ship lying in about 30 m of open sand — the 'cold one', named for its cargo trade and the chilly layers that wash the site.
