Depth is the range from the top of the site to its usual maximum; "recommended cert" is the mainstream-agency level operators usually ask for, not a legal rule. Currents and visibility change daily — treat everything here as planning ranges.

Grand Bahama's signature deep dive is a 70-meter cement freighter scuttled in 1982 and named for the engineer who arranged her sinking. She lies on her port side in about thirty meters at the very lip of the island's drop-off, so divers hang over her rails with a wall falling into blue below them. The holds and framework host groupers, horse-eye jacks, and turtles, and three decades of growth have softened her lines with sponges and encrusting coral. Depth makes this a proper advanced dive with a short clock, best run on nitrox and finished along the ledge.

The moment you come for: Intact hull on its side at the drop-off edge, resident groupers and turtles

Topography: Sand and ledge at the edge of Grand Bahama's drop-off

Current: Occasional flow along the ledge edge.

Know before you splash

Hazards: Depth and overhead spaces; interior penetration only for trained wreck divers with lights and a plan.

Nitrox: Worth it here — profiles sit in the range where enriched air meaningfully extends no-stop time (with the training to use it).
