Babylon

Babylon is the dive Cayman regulars whisper about while tourists queue for the West Wall. A buttress leans away from the North Wall like a cathedral flying free of its nave, and the channel behind it funnels you past black coral thickets, wire corals corkscrewing into the dark, and sponges in colors that only exist below twenty meters. Off the face, the blue does its big-ocean trick: eagle rays, reef sharks, sometimes nothing but the vertigo of a 2,000 m trench under your fins. Distance keeps the crowds away; conditions decide the schedule.
