The last tooth in the Medes chain takes the brunt of open water, and its life shows it. Barracuda circle the cone in silver wheels through late summer, big groupers hold the terraces, and dentex and amberjack make hunting passes along the walls. Below 15–20 m the rock disappears under red gorgonians, their fans set across the current, with lobsters and forkbeards packed into the ledges between them. Deeper, darker and pushier than the inner islets, Carall Bernat is where Medes regulars take visiting divers to make the case that the Mediterranean still has teeth.
