Deacon's Reef
Deacon's Reef is the postcard answer to Dinah's monochrome: a coral wall that starts almost at the beach, with rainforest hanging over the water so closely that wide-angle photographs catch trees and table corals in a single frame. The shallow crest carries dense hard-coral growth patrolled by anthias and parrotfish, while the wall's fans and ledges shelter lionfish and the occasional resting turtle. Barracuda drift the blue edge. Because the site is shallow, calm, and endlessly photogenic, it absorbs entire afternoons — and the shoreline backdrop at snorkel depth makes it one of Milne Bay's rare sites that surface swimmers enjoy nearly as much as divers.
El momento por el que vienes: Jungle-to-reef scenery in one frame; healthy hard-coral shallows; relaxed wall diving beside the beach.
Topografía: Coral wall and hard-coral gardens running close under a rainforest shoreline
Entrada: Minutes from Dinah's Beach; the two are commonly dived as a pair.
Lo que debes saber antes de tirarte al agua
Riesgos: Boat traffic close to shore; shallow coral heads in surge.
Conservación: Reef custom applies here as everywhere in Milne Bay — dive with operators who have village arrangements, and keep off the shallow coral crest.
