Angarosh
Angarosh translates as mother of sharks, and the name reads as a plain statement of function. The reef's crown never breaks the surface; below it, terraced plateaus at roughly 25 and 45 meters act as viewing balconies over deep water where scalloped hammerheads school in the cooler months, silvertips make their abrupt, confident inspections, and grey reef sharks hold the corners. Silky sharks sometimes mob the boat before anyone is even wet. The deeper plateau sits at the edge of recreational limits and is treated accordingly - a brief, disciplined visit with the ascent planned before the descent. Far from ports and rarely dived even in Sudan's best years, Angarosh preserved the feeling most of the Red Sea lost: that the sharks outnumber the divers.

À savoir avant de plonger
Dangers: Depth on the lower plateau; strong current and exposure; extreme remoteness even by Sudanese standards.
