Brissare Rocks

A pair of granite teeth breaking the surface north of Mahé, Brissare concentrates fish the way isolated rocks always do. Fusiliers and snapper stream around the boulders in ropes, hawksbill turtles work the sponge growth, and the shaded faces carry a surprising load of orange cup coral and fire coral — mind your knuckles. Morays are everywhere, often two to a crack, and stingrays settle on the surrounding sand. It is a straightforward, fishy, satisfying dive that operators use as the step up from the sheltered bay sites, with enough water movement to feel like the open sea.
