Swallows Cave is Vavaʻu's cathedral: a sea cave tall enough to hold a yacht mast, entered through an arch that afternoon sun turns into a wall of blue fire. Inside, a resident ball of small baitfish swirls in the half-light, parting around snorkelers in ribbons — the photographs that made the cave famous are of exactly this, a swimmer silhouetted in the school. Swifts nest in the vault above, giving the cave its name, and old graffiti from nineteenth-century visitors marks the walls. Most guests snorkel or free-dive it; scuba adds little except time. It pairs naturally with whale days as a weather-proof interlude.
वह पल जिसके लिए आप आते हैं: The baitfish vortex in blue light; the vaulted chamber and arch; free-diving frames that need no reef at all.
टोपोग्राफी: A high-vaulted sea cave with a rock floor sloping away below the entrance
प्रवेश: Boats idle at the mouth on Kapa Island and swimmers enter through the tall sea-level arch; best light in the afternoon.
पानी में उतरने से पहले जान लें
खतरे: Swell surges through the mouth on windy days; watch for boat traffic when surfacing outside.
संरक्षण: The cave is a living rookery and a cultural site — no touching the walls, no chasing the school into the dark recesses.
