Blonde Rock stands alone in the channel between Salt Island and Dead Chest, a seamount whose crown of pale fire coral gave it its name and whose isolation gives it its fish. Ledges and undercuts stack down the flanks like balconies, packed with lobsters, crabs, and squirrelfish, while snappers and grunts drape the terraces so thickly they part like curtains. Because it is the only structure for a long way, pelagic traffic checks in: barracuda always, eagle rays often, sharks on the good days. Local crews rank it among the territory's best dives when the current cooperates.
