Colombia Wall

Colombia is Cozumel at its most architectural. Coral pinnacles the size of buildings stand along the drop-off, and the dive threads the ravines between them — one moment enclosed by walls of plate coral and sponge, the next hanging over open blue. Eagle rays and turtles work the tops in winter; barracuda hold midwater like fixed hardware. Because the structure spans a wide depth range, guides can run the same terrain deep and bold or shallow and easy, which is why half the island's boats seem to end up here on any given morning.

The moment you come for: Skyscraper pinnacles, ravine swim-throughs, turtles and eagle rays, flexible depth profile.

Topography: Massive coral pinnacles and ridges standing proud of the wall edge, cut by ravines and sand slides.

Current: Steady southern-park current; occasionally strong enough that guides reroute to shallower Colombia sections.

Entry: Southern-park site with a longer boat run; drift entries onto the pinnacle field.

Hazards: Depth along the outer edge and current on the exposed corners.

Conservation: Marine-park rules; the shallow Colombia Gardens section absorbs snorkel and novice traffic instead.

Nitrox: Worth it here — profiles sit in the range where enriched air meaningfully extends no-stop time (with the training to use it).
