Palancar Gardens is the gentlest chapter of Cozumel's most famous reef, a run of coral towers that rise ten meters and more off a bright sand floor. The current sets the pace while you weave between buttresses stacked with star coral, rope sponges, and fans, ducking through the occasional cut where angelfish hold territory. Turtles graze the tops, nurse sharks wedge under ledges, and the sand channels give new drift divers room to sort themselves out. It photographs like a postcard on any sunny day.
