Black Forest

Black Forest earns its name from the colonies of black coral that feather the undercut face beginning at depths where most walls are just warming up. The lip sits at about ten meters, then the rock leans out over the Turks Island Passage, and divers slide beneath overhangs where the bushy colonies grow in shadow alongside wire coral and deep-water gorgonians. Reef sharks patrol the blue edge, turtles rest on the sponge shelves, and in late winter the wall itself seems to hum with humpback song from the channel. It is Grand Turk's signature dive and a strong argument for the island's slower pace.
