The cut itself is a sponge-lined stairwell from shelf to face, but the escort makes the dive: Little Cayman's famously bold Nassau groupers, beneficiaries of long protection and the celebrated spawning-aggregation research nearby, attach themselves to groups here like hired guides, holding station at a diver's shoulder for entire circuits. Photographers get portraits most reefs no longer allow. The wall beyond stays textbook vertical, and turtles surf the up-and-down commute between shelf and blue.
