Pedras Secas
Pedras Secas - the dry rocks, for the tips that break the surface - hides Noronha's best architecture below the waterline: a maze of canyons and honest swim-throughs bored through volcanic rock, wide enough to fly with light streaming in at both ends. Green turtles hold in the passages like parked traffic, nurse sharks wedge under the ledges, and reef sharks circuit the outer walls. Eagle rays cross the sand gaps between formations. With 30 m visibility the whole site reads at a glance, which makes the navigation feel like play rather than work. It is the dive Noronha regulars take visitors to first, and the one they request again on the last day.
