Cabo Pearce

Cabo Pearce is Socorro Island's contribution to the manta argument: a long finger of lava reaching off the east coast where giant oceanic mantas patrol the ridge line and stack up over the cleaning stations, at times three or four in view at once. Bottlenose dolphins are unusually engaged here, holding among divers rather than merely passing, and the supporting bill rotates through hammerheads, whitetips, silkies, and enough tiger sightings that guides discuss the possibility plainly. In humpback season the whales' song dominates every quiet moment on the ridge. Surge across the shallow lava can be sporty; the payoff is the archipelago's most reliable multi-species dive after the Boiler.
