Blue Lagoon (Padang Bai)
Blue Lagoon is Padang Bai's friendly front yard and a quiet overachiever. The white-sand bay reads as a training site, and it does host plenty of first dives, but its coral heads hide an oddly premium cast: leaf scorpionfish in several colors, frogfish tucked into sponges, ribbon eels flaring from their burrows, and night dives that produce Spanish dancers and hunting morays. Cooler-water pulses from the Lombok Strait occasionally usher in surprises, including sharks on the deeper edge and, rarely, a lost-looking mola. It works when Penida is too rough, suits every certification level, and rewards divers who treat easy sites as slow scavenger hunts rather than swim-throughs.
Le moment pour lequel vous venez: Leaf scorpionfish and frogfish density; easy conditions with real macro payoff; strong night diving.
Topographie: White-sand bowl with scattered coral heads, small walls at the edges, and rubble patches.
Entrée: Five minutes by jukung outrigger from the Padang Bai beach; some operators walk it from the lagoon beach itself.
À savoir avant de plonger
Dangers: Boat traffic from the adjacent ferry port area and occasional cool thermoclines; otherwise gentle.
