Tepekong is a compact, serious dive: a rock islet off Candidasa where the Lombok Strait squeezes past, chilling the water and energizing everything in it. The Canyon, a jumble of house-sized boulders on the seaward side, funnels divers between stone walls while whitetip sharks stack on the bottom like parked cars and sweetlips crowd the crevices. In season this cold conveyor makes Tepekong and its neighbors Mimpang and Biaha genuine mola territory, often with fewer boats than Crystal Bay. Surge, down-currents, and abrupt thermoclines are all part of the deal, which keeps it firmly on the experienced-diver list. Short, cold, intense, and memorable is the standard review.
Le moment pour lequel vous venez: The boulder Canyon; stacked whitetip sharks; cold-water mola encounters with thinner crowds.
Topographie: A rocky islet off Candidasa with boulder slopes, short walls, and a current-scoured canyon of huge stone blocks.
Courant: Sits in the mouth of the Lombok Strait's flow; currents switch fast, and the famous Canyon section is only sensibly dived on cooperative tides.
À savoir avant de plonger
Dangers: Down-currents and surge around the islet have a hard local reputation; abort thresholds and guide selection matter more than gear here.
Nitrox: Intéressant ici — les profils se situent dans la plage où le nitrox prolonge significativement le temps sans palier (avec la formation pour l'utiliser).
