Jahir

Jahir, named for the veteran local guide who worked it, sits mid-strait and behaves like a community noticeboard for critters: whatever is in season shows up here. Painted and giant frogfish squat on sponges, ornate and robust ghost pipefish drift in pairs, snake eels host commensal shrimp, and the anemones shelter porcelain crabs and clownfish in photogenic chaos. It has a particular reputation as a night dive, when Spanish dancers unfurl to full size, mantis shrimp hunt in the open, and the sand seems to reshuffle its entire cast. The gentle profile and constant novelty make it a staple on nearly every resort's weekly rotation.
