Ras Morovi

Where one of Musandam's drowned valleys meets the open strait, Ras Morovi bends the current around a headland and collects the best of both waters: hard-coral gardens in the sheltered lee, boulder terraces and gorgonians on the exposed nose. Green turtles graze the shallower gardens, morays and lobster pack the boulder gaps, and lionfish drift the coral heads like slow ornaments. The topography invites an unhurried route - work the point while the tide allows, then let the last of the dive wash into the calm bay among snapper schools. It lacks Lima Rock's drama and Octopus Rock's strangeness, which is precisely its role on a Musandam day: the settling dive where the peninsula's underwater landscape can simply be looked at.
