A power plant makes an unlikely ecotourism anchor, but the warm, clean cooling water jetting from Kahe Point's twin pipes acts like a fish magnet with a utility bill. Snapper, goatfish, and chub hold in the flow in swirling thousands; green turtles queue in the warmth; spinner dolphins loop through most mornings on their way along the leeward coast, close enough to hear. The pipes themselves, furred in growth, funnel a current divers lean into like wind. It is a short dive card — modest depth, modest coral — elevated by sheer animal traffic and the surreal industrial soundtrack humming overhead.
