Cindy's Reef
After the Coolidge's steel and depth, Cindy's Reef is Santo's palate cleanser: bright coral heads on shallow sand where the light reaches everything and the residents are small and unhurried. Anemonefish colonies quarrel along the bommie tops, sea kraits hunt the crevices with their unnerving calm, and nudibranchs stud the rubble patches for divers who have learned to slow down. Operators use the site for training and for long, warm second dives, but it is more than a checkout reef — the coral condition close to a working port is quietly impressive, and photographers with macro lenses rarely surface early.
Le moment pour lequel vous venez: Shallow, sunlit coral gardens; anemonefish and sea kraits at close range; generous bottom time after deep Coolidge mornings.
Topographie: Shallow coral gardens and bommies on white sand near the Segond Channel
Entrée: A short boat hop from Luganville, often dived as a gentle second tank after the Coolidge.
À savoir avant de plonger
Dangers: Few beyond boat traffic near the channel; watch the shallows in surge.
Conservation: A training reef survives only if every class keeps knees and gauges off it — instructors here enforce that, and visitors should match it.
