The avenue in question is a run of sandy ledges cut into Sipadan's eastern wall, and the whitetip reef sharks treat it exactly as billed, lounging in twos and threes on the shelves, gills working, indifferent to the parade of divers drifting past. Between shark ledges, the wall serves turtles at Sipadan's usual improbable rate, moray heads at intervals, and eagle-ray flybys off the blue edge. Nothing about the dive demands heroics; it is the island's dependable middle chapter, the one where the permit's value settles in as sharks accumulate in the logbook margin.
