Edithburgh is South Australia's macro cathedral, five meters deep. By day the pylons drip with color and leafy seadragons patrol the seagrass margins; by night the sand switches on, and the jetty produces the region's celebrity lineup on demand: southern blue-ringed octopus flashing warnings, tasselled anglerfish shuffling on their fins, pajama squid buried to the eyeballs, and nudibranchs in absurd variety. Photographers cross the state for it and rarely leave disappointed. The diving itself asks nothing, no depth, no current on a fair day, just patience, a good torch, and restraint around animals that can kill you if handled.
