Rainbow's End
The name marks the spot where the Rainbow Reef runs out into moving blue water, and the current that ends the reef also decorates it. Soft corals in yellows, purples, and oranges crowd the terraces, opening as the tide builds, while fusiliers stream overhead thick enough to shade the slope. This is drift diving in its friendly form: enough push to fly along the contours, enough structure to duck behind when a photograph demands stillness. Whitetip sharks patrol the deeper ledges and turtles graze the crest. Dived at slack it is pretty; dived on the flow it earns the name.
Le moment pour lequel vous venez: Full-color soft-coral terraces; fusilier and anthias clouds; an easy, flying drift along the reef's last corner.
Topographie: Coral-covered slope and terraces at the end of the Rainbow Reef system
Courant: Sits where the Somosomo Strait's flow bends around the reef; the ride can be quick.
Entrée: Drift entry up-current of the reef corner; the boat follows the group's DSMB.
À savoir avant de plonger
Dangers: Current can accelerate past comfortable; stay with the group and fly the DSMB early for the pickup.
Conservation: Fast water plus fragile coral equals fin discipline; hook nothing here — ride the current instead of fighting it.
