Shark Airport

The name is literal: a broad runway of pale sand at around 18-20 m on North Atoll where whitetip reef sharks park in rows, ruffling off only when divers drift too close. The shelf tips over into a wall streaked with sea fans and anemones, and the transition line is where the action stacks up, with grey reef sharks holding in the blue and eagle rays or a lone manta passing at the edge of visibility. It is an easy, readable dive by Tubbataha standards, which makes it a common season opener before the wilder corners.
