Dharavandhoo Thila

Minutes from Baa's airport island, Dharavandhoo Thila earns its place on the schedule during the season, when mantas moving to and from the Hanifaru area pause here to be cleaned and, on plankton-heavy tides, to feed along the reef's edge. Divers get what the snorkel-only bay cannot offer: mantas at depth, on scuba, sometimes stacked three deep over the blocks. The supporting reef is standard healthy Baa fare — sweetlips, whitetips on the sand, anthias smoke over the coral — and in the dry months the site reverts to a quiet local pinnacle.
