Seraya Secrets

Seraya Secrets put Bali on the muck-diving map. The slope looks barren for the first minute, then a guide's pointer starts conjuring animals out of the sand: harlequin shrimp working a starfish arm, frogfish the size of a thumbnail, ghost pipefish swaying beside a crinoid, boxer crabs waving their anemone pom-poms. This is patient, shallow, long-duration diving where dive time is limited by chill and memory-card space rather than depth. Seasonal celebrities include rhinopias and tiger shrimp, and the site remains productive when swell shuts down the Liberty. For macro photographers it is one of the island's highest-yield hours underwater.
