Lekuan Walls

The Lekuan sections are Bunaken's signature: kilometer-scale walls that start at snorkel depth and drop into indigo, dived as slow drifts past a running frieze of sponges, soft corals, and fans. Green turtles are the constant, wedged on ledges or rising lazily along the face, some of them old and enormous. Banded sea kraits stitch through the crevices, Napoleon wrasse make wide passes in the blue, and pyramid butterflyfish feed in shimmering columns off the wall. Down-reef, whitetips patrol the sand chutes. Depth is entirely elective, which lets new divers and photographers share the same profile happily. It is the park's essential dive, and repeat visits keep paying.
