West End Wall is Roatan's daily bread, the drop-off that lets shops promise a wall dive before breakfast and deliver. The face is upholstered in azure vase sponges, ropes, and fans, with sand chutes spilling through like ski runs. Turtles are close to guaranteed (the West End stretch is thick with relaxed hawksbills), and eagle rays cruise the blue edge in the cooler months. Nothing about it demands skill beyond good buoyancy, which is precisely its value: it is the site where new divers discover what a Caribbean wall is, minutes from the dock.
